Ethiopia Ardi Coffee | Horton’s Artisan Coffee Australia

A$22.00 - A$68.00
Award-winning Ethiopia Ardi.
Ethiopia Ardi is one of the most celebrated single-origin coffees in the world. Grown in Ethiopia’s highlands, it delivers bold tropical fruit notes with a bright, juicy finish.

The coffee is known for its vibrant and complex flavour, often described as having notes of mixed berries, ripe orange, and a jammy texture with a dark chocolate finish.

Profile-roasted fresh in Australia, this award-winning coffee is perfect for espresso, filter, or milk-based brews. Available in 250g, 500g, and 1kg packs.

This single-origin coffee just scored three bronze medals at the 2025 Golden Bean (Espresso, Milk & Filter). Love it or hate it, you’ll never forget it.

The name "Ardi" connects the coffee to the ancient fossil, highlighting the rich history of Ethiopia as both the birthplace of coffee and human evolution. Ardipithecus ramidus, nicknamed Ardi, is a 4.4 million-year-old hominid fossil discovered in Aramis, Ethiopia.
The skeleton is a partial female hominid and is one of the oldest and most complete hominin fossils found.

Ethiopia Shakisso Estate Coffee | Horton’s Artisan Coffee Australia

A$22.00 - A$68.00

Award-winning Shakisso Estate

Shakisso Estate produces one of Ethiopia’s most distinctive coffees, grown in a natural forest environment beneath a canopy of shade trees rather than in traditional plantation rows. This wild, semi-foraged approach gives the beans a unique character and depth.

The coffee is an heirloom varietal, showing influences of both Typica and Geisha, with bean dimensions that highlight its individuality. It is is known for its distinct flavour characteristics, often described as having notes of guava, tropical fruits, and a juicy, creamy texture.

Processed naturally (dry method), it can be chaff-heavy during roasting, but with lighter roasts and adequate rest time, the result is a cup bursting with tropical fruit complexity. Despite rising prices, it remains outstanding value for one of the world’s most remarkable coffees.

QUALITY FIRST

Ethiopian Coffee is widely regarded as the birthplace of coffee. The country’s diverse growing regions, high altitudes, rich volcanic soils, and traditional processing methods produce some of the most distinctive and complex coffees in the world.
Ethiopian coffees are almost always Arabica, with thousands of indigenous heirloom varietals (many still uncatalogued). These heirloom genetics contribute to the extraordinary range of flavours and aromas.
